Favorite horror-comedy movie: 'Tucker and Dale vs. Evil' or 'Army of Darkness'?

Despite being incredibly hilarious, there’s something about the double-genre-entendre of horror-comedies that make them way more gross than straight-up scary movies. Maybe it’s because they get so wild, so absurd, that they really just go ham on the blood and gore. Like “Tucker and Dale vs. Evil,” a classic horror-comedy about two hick buddies taking on nefarious forcers. Or “Army of Darkness,” the Bruce Campbell-led masterpiece that also involves time travel. Which is your favorite?

“Tucker and Dale vs. Evil” is a story about two hillbillies with good intentions that are suddenly thrust into a comedy of errors which gets very…bloody. All they want to do is have a nice little relaxing vacation but, unfortunately, things don’t exactly go their way.

At its core, “Tucker and Dale vs. Evil” is kind of about how snotty misconceptions by the elite class typically do more harm than good. That, and how going camping just seems to be begging for you and your friends to get killed off one-by-one.

Bruce Campbell is a God among men for horror nerds everywhere. His breakthrough film—Sam Raimi’s “The Evil Dead”—firmly placed him atop the totem of international horror icons. He returns to his role of Ash Williams, the chainsaw-arm-wielding hero who’s transported to the Middle Ages and forced to fight the titular Army of Darkness. There’s blood, there’s gore, and there’s a whole lot of Ash-kicking (get it?).

Okay, you don’t watch “Army of Darkness” for the cinematic quality. You do, however, absolutely watch it because it’s just so much fun. So pop some popcorn, kick back, relax, and watch the heads roll.
