Travel can actually be relaxing. Some of us quite enjoy a good, long drive or even an extended walk from one point to another, seeing new sights, smelling new sounds, la dee da. When beginning on such a journey, some love to take the routes suggested to them by maps (what're those?) or a GPS that’ll get them there safely and soundly. Others prefer to take the scenic route, letting the glory and splendor sink in. Which do you do?

Modern amenities include a GPS in pretty much any car you can buy; use them. Most of us weren’t blessed with the inherent ability to know where we’re going. Because of this, we’d rather not get lost because we’re feeling frisky and decide to take a left turn when Waze says keep going straight. That’s pretty much how all horror movies start, anyway.

Who says the suggested routes aren’t the way to go, anyway? Not only will they get you there quickly and efficiently, but they’re sure to have plenty of beautiful scenery along the way as well. So be smart, be safe, drive GPS (or maps which, again, what are those?).

Take the suggested route is so boring. They’re practically worn from all the car tires and feet that have gone over and back, over and back. Additionally, they’re always so rushed. Sometimes it’s best to take it slow, and go off the beaten pack to discover new things.

There’s another plus to taking scenic routes: the lack of people. It’s just you and the open road before you, baby—live it up.
