Hiring someone to hide in the bushes while you propose to your partner is certainly a modern trend, but a powerful one nonetheless. Some can't imagine going without professional photos of such an important moment. Others say a proposal is a private moment shared between a couple, and photos are not necessary in order to capture the love shared between two people—that's what wedding photos are for! What do you think?

Some people feel a proposal is a moment that should be captured and shared with the world. No matter where a proposal happens, whether it's in private or in public, those memories are likely to be a blur once it's all said and done. Sure, you'll both remember the day, but photographs will secure the memory, the reactions and the joy. As Wedding Wire's Lauren Rodrigue puts it:

Your proposal will be one of the biggest moments of your life. But it will be just that—a moment! Sure, the memories will last forever no matter what, but to assure yourself that your dream proposal is perfectly frozen in time, you should absolutely consider hiring a professional proposal photographer to record the moment. Believe me, no one ever regretted having beautiful photos of the moment their partner got down on one knee!

But some couples feel a proposal should remain private. A wedding is a time for couples to publicly display their love and commitment to their friends and family (if they so choose). A proposal, on the other hand, is a demonstration of love and commitment just to one another. For that reason, many feel there's no need to photograph something so intimate.

Plus, hiring a photographer is yet another added expense. If you're already paying for an engagement ring and crafting the perfect proposal, a photographer can end up being an extra stressor you don't need.
