We all have our way of unwinding. Some dabble in the occasional glass (or two, or three) of merlot while others partake in the nonalcoholic activities of paint by numbers or meditation. One relaxation favorite that’s widely beloved is aroma therapy, in which different scents bring upon calm (or any mood you’re looking to feel). Candles are a good way to get the aromas going, although some swear by essential oils for their specific ingredients. Which is best?

Candles are a mood. Enough with harsh electric lights; they take such a toll on our already strained brains! If you’re looking for a little relaxation, shut them ugly lights off and light up some candles that smell of your favorite smells.

Much like porn, if people like a scent there’s a candle for it. Love the scent of fresh laundry? There’s a candle for that. Beans? Weird, but yeah, candle. Whatever gets the tension out of your system, baby—happy relaxing!

There’s just something about cupping that delicate vial in your hands that feels magical, especially knowing that said vial holds some seriously lovely scents.

The best thing about essential oils is how specific you can get with the ingredients. Much like skin care products, essential oils can house certain things depending on what kind of mood you want to inspire. Just, you know, don’t get trapped into somehow selling them…
